Northrop Grumman's Space Sector invites you to bring your pioneering spirit to our collaborative teams.As a Milling Machine Machinist – Level 2 located in San Diego, CA at the Rancho Carmel Site, you'll be a linchpin in missions of paramount importance, defining the art of the possible from day one. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.This job involves machining parts per specification by setting up and operating CNC and/or Manual equipment. This position will work a 9/80 schedule.What You'll Get to DoThe Machinist is responsible for: quality of the product by performing both in-process and final part inspections, care, and maintenance of the equipment, assuring tooling and materials readiness, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment is a must. This position will require the individual to adapt to constant change and frequent communication within management and engineering. Perform other related work assignments special projects, and other duties as assigned by the Manufacturing Supervisor or Shift Lead.The Ideal Candidate Will Be Able To:Work overtime and weekends as requiredWork in a standing position for extended time periodsLift or move a minimum of 35 -50 lbs. for up to 12 hours per day; pushing or pulling 35 -60+ lbs. occasionally throughout the workdayResolve unforeseen, unique issues as they arise in machining a part(s)Understand and work with knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and disciplinesBasic Qualifications for Level 2:High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.Candidate must have 1 year of experience on 3 Axis CNC machines, 4 and 5 Axis a plusNC programming experienceMust have experience running manual machines and performing set-upsExperience with Fadal and/or Haas Controller preferredAbility to read and interpret production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications (English)Experience with reading and interpreting blueprintsExperience in GD&TExperience in following written set-up instructions and /or performing unique set-upsMust be a US CitizenPreferred Qualifications:Experience in complex measurements and advanced shop math calculations relative to tolerances, dimensions, tooling, and feeds and speedsExperience fabricating component parts where set-ups are non-routine and tolerances are difficult to acquire and maintainExperience on materials and machining processesWhat We Can Offer You:Northrop Grumman provides a comprehensive benefits package and a work environment which encourages your growth and supports the mutual success of our people and our company. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
