Area Manager, Great Lakes Region

The Area Manager (ARM) position oversees a sub‑section of a region. The ARM will manage multiple contracts, clients, projects and Account Managers, and on occasion, could directly manage job‑order or project‑level tasks at any client. Responsibilities Client Administration – the Area Manager will maintain client relationships at the Director level and above and hold quarterly check‑in meetings to evaluate performance, pipeline and future opportunities. New Client Start‑up Manager – within their geographic area, the ARM will assist the Regional Director and lead the assigned Account Manager through the new client start‑up process, coordinating the schedule and ensuring quality control on all deliverables (D&I documents, Gordian Cloud forms/reports, pre‑bid presentations, etc.). Contract Administration – ensure all service areas and deliverables in Gordian’s contracts are met, track contract and option expirations, and coordinate with clients and Gordian legal on renewals. Employee Management – manage all Account Management and support staff within the territory, oversee systems such as MyFortive, Expensify, Kronos, etc., assist the Regional Director in developing performance goals, and participate in Gordian’s LEAD program unless previously completed. Budget Development & Management – assist the Regional Director in developing the annual budget and provide analysis of historical client volume, current pipeline and potential future budgets. Financial Forecasting – review and adhere to standard work for mid‑month, quarterly and yearly forecasting, delegate data collection as needed, and provide comments and backup information to the Regional Director on any budget variances or forecasts. Coordination with Marketing, Product & Sales – assist marketing with client access for case studies, collateral and award submissions; work with the Regional Director to identify upsell/cross‑sell opportunities, assist planning conversations with target lists, and coordinate introduction meetings between the sales team and client. Gordian Cloud Migration Manager – oversee the operations team through all cloud migrations, understand procedures, standards and best practices, and report weekly and monthly progress to the Regional Director and relevant departments. Contractor Outreach – assist the outreach team in engaging the contractor community, help clients report participation in Job Order Contracts, deliver JOC 101 presentations semi‑annually, and coordinate materials creation and distribution with the JOC Coordinator. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree preferred in a relevant field of study, or equivalent work experience. Strong background in construction with at least 7 years of experience in the design and/or construction field. Experience managing teams of three or more, preferably remotely‑based teams. Highly motivated, results‑driven, organized, able to manage multiple contracts and people independently. Experience identifying client or staffing issues, creating effective solutions, and knowing when to escalate. Experience in Account Management/Customer Success; knowledge of JOC process, plans, deliverables, scope and tasks. Working knowledge and experience in the preparation of construction bid documents; knowledge of new client start‑up processes (preferred). Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of internal and external organizations. Sound decision‑making, analytical and organizational skills in a fast‑paced environment; consultative approach to complex client relationships. Valid U.S. driver’s license and ability to travel within the assigned territory up to 30% of the time. Salary range: $79,700 – $147,900 (national). This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of the total compensation package.
