Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Loan Assistant for a contract opportunity in Columbia, SC within the financial services industry. This role supports key administrative and documentation functions across loan funding, credit, and business development teams.

The Loan Assistant will help keep loan files, finance documents, broker requests, and custodian reporting moving accurately and efficiently through the process. This is a strong opportunity for a banking or loan operations professional who enjoys organized workflows, cross-functional communication, and supporting high-volume financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities

- Support loan funding, credit, and business development departments with administrative and documentation tasks.
- Log deals, track activity, and maintain accurate records throughout the loan process.
- Assign and manage items within an electronic vault, including coordinating electronic signatures and sending documents to custodians.
- Deliver Power of Attorney documents.
- Send updated financial reports to various departments. 
- Receive document requests through the portal and assist with preparation of finance documents and agreements.
- Manage custodian reports and assist with approvals and documentation follow-up.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary Range: $40,000 to $45,000 per year.
- Job Type: Contract/Temporary.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 1-hour lunch.
- Location: Columbia, SC.
- This position requires pre-employment screening to include a background check and credit check.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support administrative workflows related to loan funding, credit, and business development.
- Prepare, track, and manage loan, finance, broker, and custodian documentation.
- Coordinate electronic document assignments, signatures, approvals, and delivery.
- Maintain organized records, spreadsheets, reports, and portal requests.

- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in loan administration, banking operations, mortgage operations, underwriting support, finance documentation, or a related financial services role.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage time-sensitive loan documentation accurately.
- Experience working with electronic documents, portals, spreadsheets, and record-tracking systems.
- Ability to communicate professionally with internal teams, brokers, title contacts, custodians, and other stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and follow established processes.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, email, and general office technology.
- Reliable, professional, and comfortable working in a structured financial services environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience supporting commercial lending, mortgage lending, loan funding, or underwriting teams.
- Familiarity with portals, electronic vault systems, custodial documentation, or title-related documentation.
- Prior experience preparing or reviewing finance agreements, contracts, approvals, or loan closing documents.
- Ability to work independently while supporting multiple departments and deadlines.
