Staff Accountant

We're recruiting a Staff Accountant for a client seeking a detail-oriented accounting professional with strong analytical skills to support accounting operations, loan-related transactions, financial reporting, and process improvements in a collaborative environment.

• Location: Hybrid in Irvine, CA (2 days onsite)
• Salary: $55,000-$75,000

Responsibilities

• Support the accounting and reporting of loan-related transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with Trust regulations.
• Prepare journal entries, maintain supporting schedules, and assist with the monthly close process.
• Compile and analyze financial reports using data from the general ledger to support accounting operations.
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Collaborate with Operations and cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues and ensure borrower refunds and related transactions are processed promptly.
• Research and interpret accounting data to respond to financial inquiries and support informed decision-making.
• Apply U.S. GAAP principles to daily accounting activities while maintaining accurate financial records.
• Develop and maintain Excel-based reports and schedules to support ongoing accounting and reporting needs.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and operational efficiencies.
• Participate in special projects and other accounting initiatives as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 1-2 years of accounting experience required.
• Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
• Ability to learn new accounting systems and adapt to evolving business needs.
