MUSKEGON AREA INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL DISTRICT JOB TITLE: Supervisor of Lakeshore Learning Center CLASSIFICATION: Administrative REPORTS TO: Campus Director, Director of Special Education Programs and Accountability SUPERVISES: Certified staff, related service providers and instructional assistants as assigned TERMS: This position is a 225 total paid days position offering full family medical, dental, and vision benefits. Dental, vision, and life insurance are paid by the district at no cost to the employee. Personal business days, holidays and sick time paid. Retirement through the Office of Retirement Services (Pension Plus or Defined Contribution). SALARY RANGE: This position is on the salary, nonunion, Grade V2 Scale, $84,749.86-$111,600.23 per year. GENERAL JOB FUNCTION The Supervisor of LLC serves as the primary day‑to‑day administrator for our program for students with severe emotional impairments. This role focuses heavily on building‑level presence, creating a proactive and supportive environment, de‑escalation, behavioral intervention frameworks (PBIS, PBSPs), and instructional support tailored to students with intensive emotional and behavioral needs. This role works in direct coordination with the Campus Director who supports instructional alignment, staff supervision, operational coordination, and compliance. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS No physical or mental restrictions that would, with reasonable accommodation, prevent performance of the essential job functions and responsibilities. Possession of a bachelor’s degree or better with certification in special education or related special education licensure such as school social worker, psychologist, or speech and language pathologist. Professional certification for special education Supervisor/Director or eligibility for temporary approval. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Successful professional experience serving students with emotional impairments. Demonstrated mastery in implementing Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs), Trauma‑Informed Practices, and School‑Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) frameworks. Strong skills in proactive support equipping individuals with co‑regulation tools, physical/verbal de‑escalation protocols, and maintaining building safety. Demonstrated competence in conducting classroom walkthroughs, instructional coaching, and differentiated instruction. Dedication to staff wellness prevention in high‑stress environments. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Oversees day‑to‑day building routines, student schedules, transitions, and flexible staffing/substitute coverage. Supports building‑level preventative measures and de‑escalation protocols; classroom structures and routines and ensures safety plans are strictly adhered to. Provides targeted support to teachers regarding specialized instructional strategies, project based learning, and student progress monitoring. Provides day‑to‑day supervision, feedback, and evaluations for assigned certified staff, related service providers, and instructional assistants. Monitors building‑level IEP and PBSP implementation fidelity; participates directly in manifestation determinations and disciplinary compliance under IDEA. Functions as the primary administrator for standard building IEP meetings following an initial observation, training, and gradual release period with the Campus Director and the Director of Special Education Programs and Accountability. Acts as the primary administrator for daily student discipline and behavioral incidents, coordinating closely with the Campus Director on removals. Supports building staff wellness, and handles initial or minor staff performance and conduct issues. Serves as the first point of contact for parents regarding daily routines and behavioral concerns; coordinates with mental health providers and external agencies at the student level. Collaborates regularly with the Campus Director on high‑risk students, campus‑wide initiatives, and structural program improvements. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Campus Director and/or Director of Special Education Programs and Accountability may assign. TYPICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT Most work is accomplished in an office school and occasionally in a classroom environment, at community job sites or in a community based instructional site. WORK LOCATION(S) Work may be performed in multiple locations, however, the primary location will be on campus at Lakeshore Learning Center. TRAVEL/OVERTIME EXPECTATIONS Travel may be periodically necessary to and from instructional sites or to meetings/conferences.
