We also work to elect champions for reproductive freedom and advance state and federal legislation to safeguard it. About the role We seek a champion of reproductive freedom in the Bay Area who will recruit and mobilize our members and volunteers to support legislation and candidates who support reproductive freedom. The California Organizer will build and nurture relationships with community members and leaders through various community engagement and digital organizing tactics. They will coordinate events—both in‑person and virtual—throughout Southern California, recruit new members and volunteers, and build leadership in key parts of the state. The ideal candidate must be deeply committed to centering and uplifting the voices of marginalized Californians and turning their passion into action. Location: Hybrid, located in Bay Area or Southern California Salary range: $50,000 – $75,000 Reports to: Associate Director of Organizing, California Campaigns Details: Full Time, FLSA‑Exempt, Union, Not to exceed January 15 2027 Responsibilities (What You Do) Build and execute volunteer/member engagement programs to achieve legislative and electoral priorities through various organizing strategies and tactics. Drive campaigns to advance bills for reproductive freedom during the legislative session and engage young and diverse volunteers in field and advocacy work around these bills. Support the planning and execution of our annual Lobby Day, including setting up meetings with legislators, coordinating volunteer travel, and managing day‑of logistics. Collaborate closely across the National Organizing and Digital Organizing teams to align outreach and training strategies, share and utilize tools and resources, and ensure seamless coordination of all advocacy efforts in‑state. Represent Reproductive Freedom for All in local and statewide coalitions. Build power through volunteer recruitment and leadership development, weaving in our values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Recruit new, diverse volunteers and potential leadership to get involved in our fight for reproductive rights via event planning and execution; lead individual one‑on‑one meetings with volunteers; identify new audiences using a suite of digital and field organizing tactics; and move members up our ladder of engagement. Mentor, train, and support volunteer leaders—including those directly affected by the fight for reproductive freedom—to establish self‑sustaining “Action Councils” that plan and lead events, recruit members, and advocate for bills. Support Action Council leaders in creating and executing organizing plans, providing training, regular calls, community development, and online forums. Infuse Reproductive Freedom for All’s vision, mission, and theory of change in all volunteer communications; provide background and campaign goals, and foster transparency by sharing regular updates. Sign up new members and move them up a ladder of engagement into volunteer roles. Attend in‑person events and travel as needed. Manage California intern(s). Maintain up‑to‑date data for volunteer engagement within our data system (VAN), working with the Data team and leadership to ensure best practices; track metrics and accomplish daily and weekly organizer goals. Perform any additional duties consistent with the responsibilities and qualifications in this job description. Qualifications (What You Bring) Experience in community organizing or advocacy/electoral campaign work, including engaging, energizing, and delivering high community turnout. Demonstrated ability to develop organizing plans and hit goals. Skilled in tactics such as tabling, phone recruitment, canvassing, pitching leadership, 1‑on‑1 meetings, and coaching volunteer leaders to plan their own initiatives. Ability to train volunteers in skill development, power‑building, and strategic planning. Data management experience and knowledge of tools like VAN, Scale to Win, and CallHub. Ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences. Strong time‑management and organizational skills. Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Self‑driven and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated leadership, team‑building, and interpersonal skills. Nice‑to‑haves (or excited‑to‑learn) Experience organizing in and familiarity with California’s political landscape. Bilingual in Spanish. Relationships with California student leaders.
