Strategic Procurement Specialist

Redwood Electric Group is a large business providing electrical construction and design services. We operate throughout the Greater Bay Area with offices in Santa Clara, San Leandro, Vacaville, and Sacramento. Duties/Responsibilities Evaluate electrical suppliers by considering price, quantity, availability, and quality of service. Meeting with vendors and visiting suppliers’ facilities to learn about products, services and pricing. Negotiating contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best deals on behalf of Redwood Electric Group. Verifying purchases by comparing estimates from project plans and specifications. Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors. Authorizing payments and maintain receipts, records and inventories. Attend industry trade shows to learn about and stay current on trends and to meet suppliers. Researching and comparing manufacturers, goods, and services. Selecting the most suitable suppliers in terms of reliability, product quality, and cost-efficiency. Monitoring project lead times and determining purchasing needs. Requesting cost proposals and negotiating contracts and prices. Preparing and processing project purchase orders. Maintaining records of all transactions, purchase orders, and/or receipts. Scheduling and verifying purchase order deliveries. Building and maintaining positive, long-term supplier relations. Recommending parts/products from field work order forms. Taking phone calls from field personnel, vendors, subcontractors, project management team. Required Skills/Abilities High school diploma or GED required. Degree in business administration, management, or a related field preferred. Previous experience as a purchasing agent or in a similar position. Previous experience as a project engineer or in a similar position. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and/or project management software programs. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Strong organization and documentation skills. Strong research and analytical skills.
