Principal Automation Engineer

Agilent seeks a Principal Automation Engineer to lead automation strategy for a new pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in Frederick, Colorado. The role involves defining control systems architecture, data infrastructure, and manufacturing execution requirements for oligonucleotide therapeutics production, with oversight of integration projects and commissioning activities. Requires 10+ years of experience, GMP/GAMP knowledge, and expertise in DCS, MES, and regulatory compliance systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead automation integration for large-scale greenfield pharmaceutical manufacturing facility
- Evaluate and select DCS, PCS, and MES platforms appropriate for site requirements
- Define automation requirements for process control, bioprocessing skids, and building management systems
- Establish plant data historian and IT/OT infrastructure specifications
- Manage contractors and support commissioning, qualification, and validation activities
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant field
- 10+ years of experience in automation engineering leadership
- Knowledge of GMP, GAMP, and GDP regulatory frameworks
- Understanding of 21 CFR Part 11 and data integrity requirements
- Proficiency with DCS, PCS, SCADA, PLC, and MES systems
- Familiarity with ISA automation standards (S88, 62443, ISA-95, ISA-101)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Compensation: $146,640-$229,125/yr plus bonus, stock, and benefits
