We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Coordinator to monitor and verify food safety and quality standards across our production lines. This is a key role in ensuring our products meet company policies, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements while supporting continuous improvement in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. What You’ll Do As the Quality Assurance Coordinator, you will: Monitor manufacturing procedures across poultry, red meat, and vegetable processing and packaging lines. Inspect raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to ensure compliance with quality and food-safety standards. Alert Production Supervisors and Lead Hands to product or process concerns identified during production. Verify proper labelling, code dating, weights, and compliance with FIFO procedures. Support compliance with GMP, USDA, FDA, and applicable local food-safety requirements, including conducting audits and reporting non-compliance. Maintain complete and accurate quality assurance records, including temperature logs, inspection reports, monitoring records, and audit findings. Assist with USDA FSIS, FDA, and internal audits and support ongoing sanitation and regulatory compliance. Coordinate quality assurance requirements for import and export activities, including required documentation and inspections. Train production and warehouse employees on food safety, product quality, and regulatory requirements. Support investigations into non-conformances by identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions. Actively participate in and support production-related activities when required. This does not involve routine general labour duties but requires hands-on involvement in the production process and collaboration with plant employees. Provide limited operational coverage during the Plant Manager’s absence, including supporting production documentation, coordinating workflow priorities, providing direction to employees, and escalating operational or food-safety concerns as appropriate. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and perform other related quality assurance and operational support duties as assigned. Qualifications and Skills Post-secondary education in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field is required. HACCP certification is required. A minimum of two years of experience in food manufacturing, preferably within a USDA FSIS-regulated meat facility. Previous experience supporting import and export activities is an asset. Sound knowledge of GMP, USDA, FDA, and applicable local food-safety requirements. Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records and support regulatory compliance. Ability to read and interpret quality standards, procedures, regulations, and product specifications. Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with quality assurance or production management software is an asset. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to provide clear direction and coordinate plant activities when operational coverage is required. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a cold environment of approximately 0°C to 4°C for extended periods. A positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to learn, adapt, collaborate, and support plant operations when needed. Work Schedule and Environment This is currently a day-shift position working four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday, from 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. The current schedule is based on the plant’s operational capacity and may change in the future, including a possible transition to five 8-hour shifts, based on business and production needs. Occasional overtime, Friday, or weekend work may be required depending on production and operational demands. The role is primarily performed on the production floor within a refrigerated food-processing facility. Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods. Required PPE includes gloves, safety footwear, and protective clothing. Ready to Make an Impact?
