Surgical Technician (Surg Tech)

Surgical Technician (ST)A ST (often called a scrub tech) works as a part of a surgical team in operating rooms as well as in the labor and delivery unit. Surg Tech's provide crucial support to a surgeon such as preparing for surgery, passing instruments, providing needed supplies such as sponges, receiving and containing tissue, and much more. Surg Tech's generally work in a hospital and/or outpatient clinic setting. Education/requirements:High school education is required to obtain a job as a ST, but they can also obtain an optional certification to make them a certified surgical technologist (CST). To become a CST, they must complete an exam through the national commission for certifying agencies (NBSTSA).
