PT Faculty POOL - Women's Volleyball/ Beach Volleyball Head Coach

Part‑time/temporary coaching positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. As one of the largest community college districts in southern California, we offer a wide range of opportunities in transfer, general education, vocational and occupational programs. These part‑time positions are as needed and applicants should live within commuting distance to Orange County. Head Coach Responsibilities Leading in all phases of coaching intercollegiate women's volleyball and/or beach volleyball at the community college level, including but not limited to the recruitment of quality college student‑athletes; lead practice, competitions and games; enforce team policies and rules as well as college policies and rules, fundraising and community involvement. Recruiting, budget development and management, practice/game management, academic and social media supervision of student‑athletes, public relations, and fundraising. The head coach is expected to perform all other job‑related duties as assigned by the athletic director within the rules and regulations of the 3C2A, Orange Empire Conference, and Orange Coast College. May drive college vehicles or college‑leased vehicles to and from scheduled contests. Communicates with the Sports Information Director in a timely manner. Coordinates with Sports Medicine the care and reporting of incidents and injuries to the appropriate college and district personnel. Prepares a season summary and ensures student honors within conference, region and other athletic governing bodies are recommended and advocated. Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well‑being of the student‑athletes. Maintain effective professional working relationship with student‑athletes, staff, administrators, alumni and the general public with regularly scheduled media and public speaking engagements; develop community support for the program, and fundraising. Other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. Minimum Qualifications Must meet one of the following qualifications under (a) through (d): a. Valid California Community College instructor credential, appropriate to the subject, per Education Code 87355 (issued prior to July 1, 1990); b. Any Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution and two (2) years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member's assignment; c. Any Associate degree from an accredited institution and six (6) years of professional experience directly related to the faculty member's assignment; d. Or, possess a combination of education and experience that is at least the equivalent to the above. Candidates making an application on the basis of equivalency must submit an Application for Equivalency in addition to all other required materials. Evidence of a sensitivity to, understanding of, and the ability to manage the classroom environment and effectively provide instruction to community college students of diverse backgrounds. Employment is on a part‑time, temporary basis and contingent upon verification of employment history, background verification as governed under Education Code requirements, eligibility to work in the United States, and approval by the CCCD Board of Trustees. The hours of work and effective date of employment will be arranged with the supervisor. Job‑Related Requirements Regular attendance is considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment. The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in Coast Community College District policies, procedures, and Title IX (Reference: BP/AP 5910). Salary Based on LHE (Lecture Hour Equivalent) in accordance with the current Part‑Time Faculty Salary (BB) schedule. Required Prior to Employment Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (must be renewed every 4 years). Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at the candidate’s expense; clearance must be received before the first day of employment. Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in the United States. Participate in a new hire onboarding appointment with an Employment Services Representative.
