SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST - 223A DAY (Position Open, Effective 2026-27) Posting Number: 00059298 | School/Department: Speech Program | Location: Prince William County, VA | Job Code: 000292 | FLSA Status: Exempt | Pay Level: 00012 | Reports To: Supervisor, Specialized Instruction Calendar - Primary: E – 223YR Inst Job Summary This position identifies and treats children with speech, language, voice, or fluency disorders. It works with teachers, administrators, parents, and students to facilitate the development of communication. The role requires on‑site presence. Essential Responsibilities Screens new students for speech or language disorders. Observes classrooms as requested to provide suggestions for addressing speech or language disorders. Evaluates students referred with speech or language concerns to determine area of involvement and degree of severity. Follows the timelines and completes the paperwork for determining students' eligibility for the Speech or Language Impairment program and the need for speech therapy as a related service. Develops an appropriate Individualized Education Program for each student and implements it according to state regulations. Provides speech and language therapy according to student needs and state guidelines. Develops home programs and consults with parents as necessary. Consults with teachers regarding the Speech or Language Impairment program general information and specific information on caseload students. Works as part of an interdisciplinary team with students who have multiple disabilities; this may include consultation when the team develops and implements a feeding program, develops and trains for the use of an augmentative or alternative communication system, and/or facilitates language in the classroom. Presents professional development opportunities for school faculty as warranted. Attends county-sponsored professional development to provide a means of professional growth. Provides a monthly count of the number of students on the caseload. Maintains equipment and materials in good condition and returns borrowed materials to the Office of Special Education by the end of the school year. Provides information to the Office of Special Education as requested. Adheres to state, federal, and local laws and regulations governing the education of students with disabilities. Qualifications Education: Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or related field. Certification: State school, provisional or full speech-language pathology license issued by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred. Work Environment The position is performed in a standard indoor office, classroom, or other indoor environment. Work is regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions; employees may be exposed to minor inconveniences such as occasional noise, exposure to computer screens, crowded conditions, and minor heating, cooling, or ventilation problems. #J-18808-Ljbffr
