Bus DriverQualifications Required:Has a high school diploma or its equivalencyHas a "service-oriented" philosophy and has the ability to work independently and with others in a teamIs able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions, including following a bus route with stopsIs professional, exercises tact, and responds under pressureHas excellent interpersonal skills and maintains a positive and cooperative attitudeDemonstrates a good work ethic and has high standards for work performanceIs able to pass an annual DOT physical examIs able to obtain a CDL, class BPSCan demonstrate safe driving practicesCan maintain simple records and filesAble to understand mechanical functions of a school bus and report any defects to his/her supervisor or designeeHas knowledge of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the safe operation of a school bus and pupil transportationIs capable of driving, backing and turning around any and all pupil transportation vehiclesHas experience working with school-age childrenCan demonstrate ability to problem solve, make decisions, and take responsibility for own decisionsCan demonstrate ability to multi-task, including bus driving and monitoring studentsIs willing to take additional training or classes to improve skills in positionQualifications Preferred:Has a current CDL, class BPS or willing to train to obtainHas knowledge of child development and can effectively develop a behavior management plan for the appropriate age and developmental stage of students assignedIs willing to work flexible hours in order to complete assigned tasks and responsibilitiesHas updated CPR and First Aid certificationPrior school bus driver experienceResponsibilities:Maintains a safe and orderly environment on the pupil transportation vehiclePerforms a complete pre-trip inspection, prior to each operation of a vehicle, and reports any and all defects immediately on the designated form as directedPerforms a complete post-trip inspection after each operation of a vehicleComplies with designated pick-up and drop-off locations and timesContinually updates route file and records for accuracyReports all accidents and emergencies immediately to the supervisor and prepares proper forms as directedDemonstrates a working knowledge of MVC, PA 187 and all pupil transportation laws set forth by government agenciesComplies with district policies and proceduresComplies with all directives, both oral and written, from the supervisor, or his/her designeeMaintains the interior and exterior cleanliness of assigned vehicle(s)Maintains mirror system alignmentParticipates in meetings and in-service training sessions as requiredObserves all FCC regulations for the use of two-way radiosSupervises the loading and unloading of studentsMaintains at least one half tank of fuel in assigned pupil transportation vehiclesCompletes all required paperwork on the proper forms and submits them to the transportation supervisor, or his/her designee, in a timely mannerPerforms temporary and regular duties as assigned by supervisor or his/her designeeAll interested applicants must apply through Red Rover: upload your letter of interest, resume, reference letters, transcripts, and other pertinent information directly to your application.Questions may be directed to Angela Portt, Transportation Supervisor at View phone number on click.appcast.io or email her at View email address on click.appcast.io Date: ongoing (always looking for Bus Drivers and Substitute Bus Drivers)The River Valley School District Board of Education does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including sexual orientation or transgender identity), disability, age, religion, height, weight, marital or family status, military status, ancestry, genetic information, or any other legally protected category, (collectively, "Protected Classes"), in its programs and activities, including employment opportunities.
