The State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Financial Assistance has one (1) opening for Water Resource Control Engineer in the Small Community Technical Assistance Unit 3 which provides technical assistance to small disadvantaged and severely disadvantaged communities accessing safe drinking water through third-party providers. The position is located at 1001 I Street, 16th Floor, Sacramento, CA 95814.

Working Conditions

Positions at the Water Boards may be eligible for telework with in-person attendance based on the operational needs of the position and is expected to comply with Executive Order (EO) 22-25 after July 1, 2026 .

In accordance with the Statewide Telework Policy and GC 14200, the successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment. Proof of residency may be required.

Salary Information - CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education/experience. Statement of Qualifications

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with the State Application and serves as documentation of candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. It should be typed, no more tha n two (2) pages in length, using Arial size 11-point font, and normal margins.

Indicate your total years of experience when answering the following statements/questions:

1. Describe your knowledge and work experience, if any, with respect to funding, drinking water and wastewater treatment practices and processes, and/or watershed management plans. Provide specific examples.
2. Describe your ability to manage multiple projects and priorities. Provide specific examples.
3. Describe your ability to analyze and evaluate complex documents, technical scientific studies, and research and develop recommendations. Provide specific examples.
4. Describe your experience with contract and/or project management. Provide specific examples.
5. Describe your knowledge of quality customer service principles and your ability to ensure accurate and timely responses. Provide specific examples.
