About the Role:

The Customer Onboarding Specialist is responsible for delivering high-quality technical onboarding experiences that reduce time-to-value and help customers successfully adopt Planet data, tools, and workflows.
Sitting within the Education & Enablement team, this role works closely with Customer Success, Technical Support, Professional Services, Product, and Revenue Operations to deliver a consistent, scalable onboarding experience across customer segments. The Onboarding Specialist leads the coordination of technical onboarding activities, contributes to live onboarding delivery, and supports the continuous improvement of onboarding content, campaigns, and processes.
In partnership with Customer Success, this role also provides ongoing technical enablement for strategic customers across Latin America, helping customers continue building technical proficiency, adopt new capabilities, and maximize value from Planet products throughout their customer journey. This role serves as a trusted technical partner for customers, supporting long-term adoption through technical guidance, education, and enablement.

This is a full-time, remote position based in Latin America. If located near an office, you are expected to work from that office 3 days per week.

Impact You’ll Own:

• Deliver tailored technical onboarding experiences that help customers successfully adopt Planet’s products, data, and workflows while reducing time-to-value.
• Lead onboarding kickoff calls, coordinate onboarding activities, and deliver live onboarding sessions, technical training, and workshops for customers across Latin America.
• Partner closely with Customer Success Managers to provide ongoing technical enablement that helps strategic customers expand their use of Planet products, workflows, and capabilities beyond initial onboarding.
• Build trusted technical relationships with customers by providing continued education, guidance, and best practices that support long-term adoption and customer success.
• Design, maintain, and continuously improve onboarding resources, customer education content, and learning materials across Planet’s education platforms.
• Coordinate onboarding activities across Education, Customer Success, Technical Support, Professional Services, Product, and Revenue Operations to ensure a seamless customer experience.
• Monitor onboarding engagement and customer feedback, contributing insights that improve onboarding experiences, customer adoption, and future education initiatives.

What You Bring:

• 4+ years of experience in customer onboarding, customer education, technical training, technical support, customer success, or a similar customer-facing role.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Professional fluency in English, Spanish, and Portuguese , with the ability to confidently deliver customer onboarding and technical training in all three languages.
• Technical aptitude with the ability to understand complex customer workflows, explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, and deliver engaging customer training and enablement.
• Experience working with GIS, remote sensing, or geospatial data platforms.
• Hands-on experience with coding or scripting (preferably Python) sufficient to understand customer workflows, troubleshoot issues, and support technical onboarding.
• Familiarity with adult learning principles and best practices for customer education and technical enablement.
• Ability to coordinate cross-functional customer onboarding activities while balancing organization, collaboration, stakeholder alignment, and customer needs.

What Makes You Stand Out:

• Experience working in a SaaS, data, or developer-focused product environment.
• Experience working with Learning Management Systems (LMS), customer education platforms, or documentation systems.
• Experience supporting both live and scaled (self-service or automated) customer onboarding and enablement programs.
• Exposure to onboarding automation, customer engagement platforms, or lifecycle communications.
• Experience working with multilingual or cross-cultural customer audiences.
