About this Role NorthStar Energy Services is seeking a Structural Engineer / Project Engineer to join our collaborative multidisciplinary team. This dual-role position offers the opportunity to combine hands-on structural analysis and design with broader project leadership, supporting projects from concept and detailed design through construction, commissioning, and startup. What You'll Do In this role, you will establish structural design criteria and independently perform engineering analyses, calculations, and code interpretations for energy facilities. As Project Engineer, you will also help define project scope, schedule, and budget; coordinate procurement and vendor activities; and serve as a key technical connection among clients, internal disciplines, and third-party partners throughout the project lifecycle.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:STRUCTURAL ENGINEERINGPerform engineering analyses, calculations, and design activities for a broad range of structural deliverables, including:Steel structural analysis and design of equipment skids, platforms, pipe racks, and cable tray racksConcrete structures, including retaining walls and deep and shallow foundations for heavy, lightly loaded, and rotating equipmentFoundations and supports for pumps, electrical stands and buildings, process equipment (separators, meter skids, etc.), manifold piping, and tanksDemolition plans, rebar schedules, material take-offs, and structural bills of materialApply and interpret applicable structural codes and standards, including ACI 318, ASCE 7, AISC, IBC, and OSHA requirementsReview site-specific geotechnical reports and incorporate relevant findings into site development and foundation designPROJECT ENGINEERING & DELIVERABLE MANAGEMENTServe as Project Engineer for assigned projects, with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, and coordinated technical execution across engineering disciplinesCoordinate multidisciplinary deliverables and serve as the primary day-to-day technical point of contact for the clientDevelop and maintain core project documentation, including design basis documents, scopes of work, deliverable lists, and progress reportsSupport procurement through RFQs, technical bid evaluations, and purchase recommendations; review shop fabrication and third-party vendor drawings for compatibility with the intended structural designPerform QA/QC reviews of drawings and cross-discipline deliverables to verify safe, code-compliant designs that align with project objectivesIncorporate company standards, municipal requirements, and applicable regulatory codes into project deliverablesRespond to RFIs throughout the project lifecycle with clear, timely technical guidanceConduct field assessments and walkdowns to gather information needed to support sound design decisionsProvide engineering support during construction, commissioning, and startup, including punch list resolution and as-built documentation What You'll Bring QUALIFICATIONS:GENERALMust be a U.S. citizen or permanent residentCandidates should be prepared to participate in a technical interview as part of the selection processThis is a fully office-based positionSKILLS & ABILITIESDemonstrated attention to detail and a consistent commitment to technical accuracy and qualityStrong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlinesAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers and designers across disciplinesAdaptable and solutions-oriented, with strong analytical judgment and problem-solving skills when priorities, requirements, or schedules changeProfessional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients, vendors, and construction personnelEDUCATION & EXPERIENCEBachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or Structural EngineeringWorking proficiency with SAP, SAFE, and L-Pile structural programs and Microsoft Office SuiteWorking knowledge of ACI 318, ASCE 7, AISC, IBC, and OSHA codes and standardsPreferred, but not required: Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in the State of Texas, or the ability to obtain onePreferred, but not required: experience with Plant 3D Structure and CADWorx, as well as construction or field experience What You'll Get As a Quanta Services employee, we offer a wide range of benefits to fit your needs.401(k) with immediate matching and vestingFully comprehensive benefits packages; Medical, Dental, VisionYour choice of PPO, HSA, FSAShort-term and long-term benefitsEmployee discounts on consumer goodsEqual Opportunity EmployerQuanta provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.Note: This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
