Precision Machinist This role focuses on setting up and operating 4- and 5-axis Haas and Makino CNC mills to produce high-tolerance components for plastic injection molds. You will work in a job shop environment where every project is different, applying both technical machining expertise and tool-room style problem-solving to support customers in aerospace, medical, and automotive industries. Responsibilities Set up and operate 4- and 5-axis Haas and Makino CNC mills to machine precision components for plastic injection molds. Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and specifications to produce high-tolerance parts. Perform machining operations in a job shop environment where parts and projects vary daily. Use tool-room problem-solving skills to troubleshoot machining challenges and optimize setups. Adjust tooling, offsets, and machining parameters to achieve required dimensions and surface finishes. Assist with or perform programming at the machine control or within CAM software as needed. Collaborate with team members to plan machining processes, tooling selection, and fixture design. Inspect parts during and after machining to ensure they meet dimensional and quality requirements. Contribute to mold making activities by machining mold components and related tooling. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow shop safety practices. Essential Skills Proven experience setting up CNC mills, including 4- and 5-axis machines. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings. Hands-on machining experience in a job shop or similar environment. Experience with tool and die or mold-related machining. Some experience programming at the machine control or within CAM software. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills in a tool-room environment. Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-tolerance, high-quality parts. Additional Skills & Qualifications Approximately 1+ year of programming experience with Mastercam software. Prior experience machining molds and mold components. Experience with tooling design and fixture concepts. Familiarity with Haas and Makino CNC mills. Experience supporting aerospace, medical, or automotive industry tooling is a plus. Why Work Here? Job Type & Location This is a permanent position based out of Rockford, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
