This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys taking equipment from concept through build, integration, testing, and troubleshooting. You will work closely with mechanical engineers, technicians, vendors, and customer-facing teams to develop reliable automation solutions involving PLCs, HMIs, motion control, robotics, sensors, and other industrial control components. Job Details Key Responsibilities Design electrical control systems for custom automated machinery and equipment. Develop panel layouts, electrical schematics, wire run lists, BOMs, specifications, and supporting documentation. Program and configure PLCs and HMIs for machine control and automation applications. Develop programs using Ladder Logic and Structured Text. Define controls requirements for automated equipment, tooling, material handling, and coordinated machine movements. Select and integrate motors, drives, sensors, safety components, and other industrial control hardware. Work with vendors and subcontractors to evaluate and integrate specialty components. Support machine assembly, integration, testing, startup, and troubleshooting. Assist technicians and customer-facing teams with diagnosing electrical and controls issues. Support robotic system integration and programming when applicable. Develop technical documentation, operating instructions, and user manuals. Ensure designs comply with applicable industrial safety requirements and standards. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline preferred. 2-5 years of hands-on experience designing and supporting industrial automation or custom machinery. PLC and HMI programming experience. Experience with Allen-Bradley, AutomationDirect, Panasonic, or similar platforms is highly desirable. Experience programming in Ladder Logic and/or Structured Text. Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar electrical design software. Understanding of industrial electrical systems, safety circuits, controls, and machine safety components. Experience with motion control, servo systems, robotics, or automated material handling is a plus. FANUC robotics experience is beneficial but not required. Familiarity with OSHA, CE, and CSA requirements is preferred. Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills. Interested in hearing more?
