Registered Nurse , Acute Care - Intensive Care Unit

About the department Bassett Medical Center's Intensive Care Unit is a 14‑bed critical care unit that serves a rural community and a trauma hospital. The unit offers advanced treatments and a fast‑paced, innovative environment that supports professional growth. What you’ll do As a Registered Professional Nurse (RN) in the Intensive Care unit, you will deliver safe patient care using the nursing process. You will assess, plan, deliver, coordinate, integrate, and evaluate nursing care related to patient needs and support patients through interdisciplinary teamwork. Essential job functions Provide nursing care and services to patients of all ages in various settings consistent with educational preparation. Collect, analyze, and record relevant patient health data accurately. Analyze assessment data to identify patient problems. Identify expected outcomes individualized to the patient. Develop a plan of care with interventions to attain expected outcomes. Implement and record interventions appropriate to diagnosis or patient problem. Evaluate the patient’s progress toward identified goals. Adhere to approved, research‑based practice standards. Direct and supervise patient care provided by LPNs and support personnel. Demonstrate consideration of safety, effective use of equipment and materials, and cost in managing patient care.

  • RN I only) Enter accurate documentation of all patient care activities.
  • RN I only) Perform and document point‑of‑care testing and quality control.
  • RN I only) Maintain and document testing reagents/supplies and equipment.
Advocate for patients to ensure care preserves autonomy, dignity, and rights. Deliver care in a non‑judgmental and non‑discriminatory manner sensitive to patient diversity. Ensure patients have informed consent signed for indicated procedures. Act on behalf of patients in an ethical manner. Adhere to ANA Code of Ethics for Professional Nurses. Maintain current knowledge and skills in the area of practice. Provide proof of current licensure validation to supervisor. Complete required unit credentialing according to departmental policy. (RN I only) Submit complete orientation checklist. Provide evidence of completion of all required training and competency validation. Participate in required educational activity related to job function annually. Participate in nursing research and contribute to clinical problem investigation. Assist in the collection of data within a structured format. Perform other duties as requested and observed by supervisor or manager. What we need from you Education 2‑year Associate Degree in Nursing (required). Vocational/Technical Diploma in Professional Nursing Program (required). 4‑year Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred). All RNs without a BSN must enroll in a bachelor’s‑prepared nursing program within four years of hire and complete the BSN within ten years. RNs licensed on or before 12/19/17 are exempt from this requirement. Experience New graduate or less than one year of professional nursing experience (required). License/Certification NYS licensure as a Registered Nurse or valid interim permit (required). BLS certification required within six months. Additional certifications may be needed based on department requirements. Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling, and reaching. Frequent fit testing. Constant typing, grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, visual acuity, standing, stooping, talking. Hazards Occasional radiation/radiant energy. Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure. Working Conditions Occasional noise, vibration, wet and/or humid environment. Frequent odors. Travel Occasional travel – the job may require travel from time to time, but not on a regular basis. Pay Transparency Salary is based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network at the time of posting. Pay Range Minimum: USD 40.20/Hr. Pay Range Maximum: USD 59.52/Hr.
