Application Developer / Report Writer

Job Title/Location:Application Developer / Report Writer, Oxford, CT Purpose & Scope:The Applications Developer / Report Writer works under the direction of the Business Intelligence (BI) manager. He/she provides technical support to resolve or assist in resolution of issues relating to ERP systems, reports, and other software applications. The position is responsible for interacting with end users, opening support tickets with software vendors, and identifying and implementing solutions for software application issues. He/she also provides input for the improvement of processes and procedures. This position may involve some database maintenance work, such as writing and executing SQL statements to extract data for business purposes or audits.Key Responsibilities:Provides training, troubleshooting, and support to software application usersCoordinate the processing of incoming requests to IT Service via both telephone and e-mail to ensure courteous, timeliness, and effective resolution of end user software application issuesLiaise with third parties and IT partners to resolve issues in a timely mannerImplement minor changes to the ERP systemTrack and manage changes to the application software per defined Change Management processRecord, track, and document the help desk request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, and actions taken, through to final resolutionDetermine severity of incidents and efficiently escalate them using the incident management processKeep requester informed of progressEnsure resolution meets user requirements while meeting Service Level requirementsSupport a 24 x 7 manufacturing environment.Experience supporting Power BI and the Microsoft Power Sweet is preferredAbility to write SQL queries is requiredMicrosoft Access/Excel/Word/PowerPoint expertise is requiredOutstanding customer service and interaction skills, as well as excellent verbal and written communications skills.Experience with Industry Standard ticketing system preferredAbility to work independently under general supervision within a demanding client centric environment.Education & Skills:High School Diploma, bachelor’s degree in an IT related field is preferred3+ years of experience of relevant work experience; 1+ years with Associates General knowledge of Windows Server (2019 and newer) operating systemSQL Server query writing; intermediateHigh level of experience with desktop operating systemsExcellent troubleshooting skillsExcellent research skillsTechnical documentation skillsStrong written and oral communication skills, possess the ability to interact with senior management and technical staff in a professional mannerPreferred Experience:Visual Studio (VB.net / C#), Team Foundation Server, Power BI, SSRS, SSIS, SQL ServerAbility, initiative, and accountability to execute broad assignments requiring minimal directionModerate understanding of enterprise datacenter technologies including Networking, Security, TCP/IP and DNSCompensation & Benefits:RBC offers competitive pay and benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K match, and paid time offAbout RBC BearingsRBC Bearings Incorporated (NYSE: RBC) is a leading global manufacturer of highly engineered precision bearings, components, and essential systems serving the industrial, aerospace, and defense markets.
