Student Recruitment Specialist- Houston Region

Responsibilities Review application files and make admissions decisions and scholarship recommendations. Prepare recruitment schedule and plan recruiting and yield events. Update admissions webpages and printed publications. Manage alumni and volunteer programs that support student recruitment and enrollment. Recruit and promote university opportunities to prospective students by developing and delivering presentations to high schools, businesses, organizations and UH alumni. Maintain key relationships with high schools, community colleges and the media. Serve as Lead Counselor in an assigned recruitment area; assess and monitor the progress of recruitment efforts. Supervise, train and evaluate student assistants in ongoing recruitment projects such as campus tours, mail-outs, phone campaigns and UH Ambassadors. Plan, organize and supervise implementation of university/college recruitment projects and events. Maintain a high level of knowledge regarding the Student Information System and act as troubleshooter for Outreach and Admissions staff. Monitor target markets and university enrollment and produce reports for use by Outreach and Admissions staff. Assist with the development of a training plan for new counselors. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. Maintain a university vehicle, including cleaning and routine maintenance. Create and maintain prospect records in the campus recruiting management (CRM) system. Prepare reports and analyze data from the CRM system to coordinate recruiting efforts with other recruitment specialists. Location: Houston, TX. Eligibility Requirements Thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge normally obtained through a formal directly job‑related 4‑year degree or equivalent specialized training program. Minimum of three (3) years of directly job‑related experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing and implementing student recruitment and outreach to meet enrollment goals in target geographic areas and specific student populations. Experience with PeopleSoft and other student information systems. Higher Education experience. Service leadership skills including mutual respect, active listening, responsiveness, empathy, advocacy, and transparency. Must be a multi‑tasker, extremely organized, and able to work in a high‑pressure environment, with strong interpersonal and problem‑solving skills. Ability to interpret and implement policies and procedures. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
