Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry‑leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities Champion safety and quality – walk the talk and lead the team to world‑class, daily safety and quality performance. Provide supervision and facilitation to a team of day staff members. Supervise subordinates to execute operations. Deliver daily feedback on individual and team performance. Prepare and provide reports to the supervisory chain. Coordinate daily activities of the team and support organizations. Conduct hourly/direct labor employee performance reviews and coach as needed. Implement and monitor training and certification plans. Hold reports accountable for adherence to established procedures and set points for process control; ensure awareness and compliance to changes. Remove roadblocks for the team and communicate additional support needed to leadership. Hold reports accountable for adherence to procedures and set points for process; deliver necessary accountability/performance improvement discussions. Coach and develop team leadership. Serve as an operations representative for ongoing projects/activities as needed by Section Supervisors. Ensure the protection of Corning's Intellectual Property (IP). Required Skills 5+ years of manufacturing experience. 4+ years of leadership within a team. Degree in a technical field OR relevant years of experience in a manufacturing supervisory role. Proficiency with MS Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and PI Vision/Process Book. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong teamwork and leadership skills. Positive attitude and engagement in positive employee relations. Strong decision‑making and prioritization; ability to prioritize responsibilities while working in an irregular work environment with changing priorities and multiple tasks. Strong peer‑to‑peer accountability with fair and consistent application of policies and procedures. Ability to function independently with minimal supervision and with strong attention to detail, following up on and completing assigned action items. Must be able to work 12‑hour rotating shift schedule as needed. Desired Skills Yellow Belt Certified. Self‑sufficient and results driven. This position does not support immigration sponsorship. The range for this position is $80,750.00–$111,031.00 assuming full‑time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job‑related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
