Job Opportunity: Heavy Duty Equipment - Shop Mechanic

This position reports directly to the Fleet Maintenance Manager and involves the routine upkeep and repair of our Ready-Mix trucks, while ensuring our workshop remains safe and organized. Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures, plumbing, and electrical systems according to specifications and manuals.
• Conduct visual inspections and listen to machinery to identify malfunctions.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
• Operate mobile equipment, including service trucks, to retrieve malfunctioning vehicles.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance, including fueling, cleaning, and inspecting service vehicles for tires, lights, and fluids.
• Engage in welding, repair, and fabrication tasks.
• Order parts necessary for repairs as required.
• Make service calls to other company locations or job sites when needed.
• Assist in training fellow team members as necessary.
• Adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Strong understanding of mechanics related to truck and general maintenance.
• Proficient in using power tools, welders, cutting torches, and various safety equipment.
• Knowledge of proper maintenance procedures, including lockout/tagout protocols and special work permits.
• Familiarity with computer systems and software programs.
• Experience with Allison transmissions, Davie 4, and ESA software is advantageous.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• A Commercial Driver’s License is a plus.
• Must provide personal tools up to ¾ inch.
• A High School Diploma is preferred.
• 3-5 years of experience as a Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic is required.
• Experience with concrete mixers is preferred.

Working Conditions

• Travel may be required to various company facilities for maintenance tasks.
• Employees may be exposed to loud noises, heavy machinery, moving equipment, oil, debris, solvents, smoke, gases, fumes, and aggregate materials.
• Additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be necessary for specific tasks such as welding and repairs.
