Environmental Health & Safety Manager

Our EHS Manager is responsible for leading and supporting field safety operations, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation across all company divisions. This role ensures that construction activities align with OSHA and other applicable regulatory agency requirements while upholding and advancing ESI’s safety programs and culture. The EHS Manager protects the organization’s highest priorities—our people, equipment, materials, and operational integrity—through proactive safety engagement, training, and oversight. This position serves as a trusted advisor to project teams, providing expert guidance in safety processes, incident communication, and continuous improvement toward a world-class Level 4 safety culture. This role is located on projects in the Denver, CO area. ESI covers 100% of the medical premium for all employees and families. Responsibilities Manage safety on higher-value, more complicated projects; manage multiple complex projects simultaneously. Mentor and train project team members including Interns, Project Engineers, and Project Managers in safety compliance and requirements. Lead and participate in ESI company and Divisional development of safety culture and efforts. Assist in preparing and participating in safety presentations for prospective project proposals. Reinforce and grow existing relationships through exemplary customer service to our teams. Maintain satisfied and loyal superintendent relationships. Assist subcontractors in ability to follow/work within/promote ESI safety culture on project sites; grow subcontractors safety knowledge and performance. Assist in claim management of injured workers. Assist in return to work programs for injured workers. Qualifications Demonstrated history of excellent safety culture and compliance management. Track record of process and safety improvement. High aptitude in training and developing other team members. Confidence in navigating and understanding all Federal OSHA standards and state and local safety requirements. Conduct incident investigations, document corrective actions and ensure plans are implemented, may include after accident reviews (AAR); provide legal team with assistance as needed. Assist Director with managing serious incidents or fatalities with project teams. Attend and negotiate OSHA settlement agreements. Ability to manage a team of people to achieve specific project requirements, including Safety Leads and Safety Coordinators. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Capable of managing safety expectations on multiple projects simultaneously with contract values up to $1M, $1M to $3M each, or individual complex projects ranging from $10M to $40M. Ability to manage and be the point of contact for a specific ESI Division/program and develop relationships for safety culture within the division/program. Partner with legal team as needed to offer advice on incidents/case management. Working Conditions The work environment characteristics described here are representative of what a EHS Manager will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. Fast-paced working environment. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. Manage several projects at one time. Interrupted frequently to meet the needs and request of team members, clients, and subcontractor. Work environment involves some exposure of hazards or physical risks, which require following safety precautions; must lead by example in safety PPE & working within safety hazards. Use of heavy equipment is common. Physical Demands Flexibility in working hours may be required, including evening and weekend work as needed. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and technology software and apps as well as equipment such as ladders, barricades, PFAS & small tools. Travel Requirements This project is located in the Denver area.
