Network Security Engineer - Remote with light travel

Salary: $83,000 - 123,000 per year Requirements:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent years of experience
• At least 8 years of professional experience in a related field
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking across Layers 2–7, including IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, subnetting, VLANs, and network monitoring and management tools
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities, including isolating problems and addressing them before they escalate
• Ability to make practical, timely decisions in urgent situations
• Extensive experience with Palo Alto next-generation firewalls and firewall configuration; familiarity with IPS devices and security policy implementation
• Experience configuring and supporting VPNs and remote access
• Network troubleshooting experience with packet tracing, sniffer analysis, and router and switch security configuration, including SSH, SNMPv3, access control lists, and TACACS/RADIUS
• Experience with wireless network security standards and configuration
• Understanding of internet routing, defense in depth, DMZ design, and zero-trust networking
• Security experience related to compliance, asset protection, and organizational security
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presenting and explaining technical and design strategies to different audiences
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to respond calmly and constructively to equipment or application failures
• Dependability and availability to provide after-hours support and maintain equipment outside regular hours when needed
• Ability to collaborate remotely with team members and leaders
• Azure cloud experience preferred; multicloud experience is desirable
• Experience with Skybox Firewall Assurance or other firewall auditing tools preferred
• Experience with SolarWinds Orion or other network management tools preferred
• LAN/WAN configuration and troubleshooting experience with Cisco routers and switches and Palo Alto firewalls preferred

• Provide full lifecycle support and administration for physical and virtual network security appliances, including firewalls, VPN concentrators, and IDS/IPS devices
• Apply and enforce our network security and cybersecurity policies through firewall configuration, VPN provisioning, network access administration, and reviews of router, switch, and wireless configurations
• Contribute to the design and implementation of IT projects from a network security perspective, both on premises and in Azure
• Work with our cybersecurity team on audits, compliance activities, and incident response
• Lead cross-functional technical teams in developing solutions for new business needs and application growth
• Develop conceptual, logical, and physical network security architectures and prepare supporting documents, diagrams, analyses, test plans, and risk assessments
• Assess costs, compare vendors, and evaluate the feasibility of approaches for large-scale projects to support efficient, cost-effective operations
• Help plan, design, and implement IT initiatives; collaborate with customers, vendors, and resellers to define requirements through the BRD process, prepare RFI/RFPs, manage projects, and communicate status throughout the project lifecycle
• Perform third-level troubleshooting and diagnosis to restore service across infrastructure components, including VPNs, firewalls, IDS/IPS, and other network systems
• Maintain detailed documentation of systems, application configurations, and user profiles
• Create task and procedural documentation, and keep relevant project information and status current in incident tracking and project systems
