Registered Nurse PCU

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Step Down float role provides skilled nursing care across various patient populations including ER boarded patients, telemetry, and medical-surgical cases. This position requires flexibility to float and support multiple units within the hospital, managing varying nurse-to-patient ratios and occasionally assuming charge nurse responsibilities on smaller units. The RN collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure quality patient care and effective unit coordination. Responsibilities: Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license valid in the United States.
• Minimum two years of RN experience within US healthcare settings (Canadian experience not accepted alone).
• Charge nurse experience on small units is required.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced acute care environments.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in Progressive Care Unit, telemetry, medical-surgical, or ER settings.
• Previous float nurse experience across multiple inpatient units.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to float across multiple units with varying patient populations.
• Charge nurse duties limited to small units staffed by 1 2 RNs supported by LPNs and CNAs.
• Check with manager before accepting any 48-hour per week contract offers.

Scheduling:

• 12-hour night shifts, 19:00 to 07:30.
• Typical schedule is three 12-hour shifts per week.
• Start date: ASAP.
