Principal CoreValve Therapy Development Specialist (Bay Area & Central Coast)

Position Description The CoreValve Principal Therapy Development Specialist (TDS) provides technical, clinical, educational and sales support to ensure safe adoption and growth of the Medtronic CoreValve System and future catheter-based therapy technologies. The TDS works closely with implanting teams and the Medtronic Catheter-Based Therapies (CBT) and CVG field organizations to drive procedural and practice success. Responsibilities Technical / Clinical Support: Provide quality technical support to sites achieving procedural success, including scrubbing in for TAVI implant procedures, loading valves, and technical leadership following Medtronic guidance. Educate implanting teams on indications and device suitability, support questions regarding imaging modalities (echo, angiography, CT), EKG, blood pressure, and ancillary procedural solutions. Maintain knowledge of clinical trial protocols, IFUs, literature, and competitive products. Educational Support: Oversee local education and training activities, including procedure simulators, simulated TAVI procedures, and staff in‑services. Provide guidance on safe and effective use of Medtronic products. Customer Service and Sales Support: Support district sales strategy with sales representatives and managers, achieve business plans within the CBT unit and broader CVG organization, manage inventory ordering, shelf stock, and returns, and resolve customer complaints promptly. Professional Development: Assist in training new hires to the Medtronic CBT team. Administrative Responsibilities: Submit accurate expense reports, schedule travel arrangements, maintain hospital eligibility/access and vendor credentialing services. Communication: Maintain high‑level communication with CVG sales and leadership, communicate market intelligence, and ensure professional written and verbal communication standards. Qualifications Basic Qualifications (must appear on resume): High School Diploma plus 11+ years of clinical or sales experience, or Associate’s Degree plus 9+ years, or Bachelor’s Degree plus 7+ years in interventional cardiology, vascular, or surgical products, with at least 3 years of industry experience. Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, nursing, sciences, or business. Experience with wires, balloons, catheters, and stents. Exceptional understanding of cardiac and vascular anatomy, physiology, pathology. Experience communicating market advantages to physicians and hospital administration. Experience managing multiple accounts and teaching medical personnel. Imaging interpretation experience (TTE, TEE, CT, angiograms). Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Excellent influencing, consulting, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong project‑management and multitasking skills. Ability to travel up to 50–75% of the time, including overnight stays. Physical Job Requirements Must be independently mobile and able to lift 20 pounds. Interact with computers and communicate with peers. Use CT reconstruction programming and operate vehicles. Wear lead apron for 2–3 hours on average. Operate in cath labs or ORs with radiation exposure. Travel by car and plane, including overnight stays up to 50–75% of the time. Environmental Exposures Infectious disease, radiation, blood‑borne pathogens. Must wear all required personal protective equipment.
