8 hours per day, 185 days + 10 additional days per year *Licensed staff new to Westminster Public Schools is contracted for 190 days the first year* A complete application package includes the following: application, resume, copy of CDE teaching license, official transcripts, 3 letters of recommendation, copy of PRAXIS report. Minimum qualifications include possessing a valid special service provider license from the Colorado Department of Education with an endorsement in School Counseling or related area, keeping current with research-based practices in the field of School Counseling or endorsed area and maintaining ethical standards and practice guidelines within the profession, willingness to engage in school-wide high school advisory and mentoring programs, effectively modeling strong social-emotional competencies, experience and/or skills for successfully interacting and working with culturally diverse populations desired, interpersonal relations and collaborative teaming skills with all stakeholders, including customer service and PR skills, strong oral and written communication skills, astute critical thinking and problem-solving skills, calm and collected demeanor during crisis situations, ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently and effectively, candidates with endorsements in CLDE, Bilingual Ed, Foreign Language, and/or sheltered content or other English Language instructional training, including bilingual skills desired. Must also be able to read, write and comprehend English. Has knowledge and experience in competency-based education approaches or willingness to learn, promotes and follows all Board of Education policies and building and division procedures, prior experience with IB and/or alternative programs desired (high school postings only).

Job Responsibilities

• Supports students with their social-emotional needs, academic planning/scheduling, goal-setting, career planning, and postsecondary options
• Engages in direct student support within the three tiers of intervention (i.e., universal or whole group, targeted or small group, intensive or individual work)
• Provides indirect support using collaborative consultation and coaching methods with various stakeholders including, but not limited to, teaching staff, administration, parents, and community partners
• Promotes student agency by implementing WPS instructional model, WPS SEL Proficiency Scales, and Individual Career and Academic Plan (ICAP)
• Uses data to collaboratively identify student strengths, needs, and interests at the school level and use data to drive focused interventions
• Collaborates with connected teams of professionals (e.g, building administration, school counselors and mental health professionals, Future Center, social-emotional learning team, teachers, CLDE, special services, School to Work Alliance [SWAP])
• Serves a leadership capacity at the school and/or district level (e.g. support climate/culture surveys, PBIS, universal SEL competency data collection, trauma-responsive systems, student support teams, SEL initiatives, mentorships)
• Helps lead professional development initiatives relevant to this role (e.g., SEL, academic planning, career planning, etc.)
• Serves on the Crisis Response Team (prevention and intervention) and help lead crisis management if/when they occur
• Makes referrals to community partners (e.g., school-based therapists, basic needs, etc.) as determined by student needs
• To perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
