Job Details Grade 105. Job Type: Officer of Administration. Regular. Hours per week: 35. Position Summary The Physical Therapist II is part of collaborative Sports Medicine & Sports Therapy teams providing functional and exercise oriented treatments in prestigious Orthopedic and Sports Medicine facilities. The Physical Therapist II contributes to the professional development of the physical therapy team by providing guidance and mentorship where needed. Responsibilities Conduct initial assessment and evaluation of Physical Therapy needs for assigned patient populations; review medical charts and clarify referral/Treatment orders; select appropriate assessment tools; develop and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Implement treatment plans and protocols per current professional and health system standards; establish achievable goals with patient and family; select appropriate technical aids and refer to other services; provide patient/family education. Complete all required documentation in the medical chart; ensure thoroughness using appropriate terminology; record treatments and daily treatment records. Monitor patient visits and update prescriptions for authorization compliance; produce evaluation, follow‑up, and discharge letters to referrers in a timely manner. Complete continuing education and present in‑service sessions; maintain proficiency in required skills. Interface with providers, nurses, and support personnel; address patient concerns; communicate care plans to primary or local physicians. Assist patients with health needs, exploring alternatives, and supporting informed decisions. Participate in professional development activities, maintain affiliations, and attend training programs (BLS, CPR, OSHA, CLIA). Attend internal and external conferences, grand rounds, and departmental meetings. Work as part of the orthopedic physical therapy team; provide cross‑coverage to other therapists or sites. Collaborate with co‑workers, address staff concerns, and recommend updates to procedures or workflows. Perform additional duties as assigned within scope of practice, experience, and education. Evaluate competencies of physical therapy staff, provide guidance, coaching, and feedback; mentor others in accountability and best practices. Coordinate professional development and onboarding activities for Physical Therapy Aides; report progress and issues to management. Ensure compliance with regulatory and patient privacy trainings (infection control, public safety, EH&S, HIPAA, OSHA). Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in education and experience, plus minimum 4 years of related experience. Current and unrestricted New York State license. Preferred Qualifications Excellent clinical skills in a high‑volume, high‑pressure environment. Prior experience in supervisory or team‑leader role. Strong customer service orientation, tact, respect, and sensitivity. Organized, capable of managing demanding workload and moderately complex cases. Advanced problem‑assessment and resolution skills in interdisciplinary settings. Effective oral and written communication with professional staff and stakeholders. Leadership and mentoring in changing situations; professional, compassionate demeanor. Independent work, multitasking, and ability to handle multiple programs. Culturally diverse patient and staff sensitivity. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems. Motivated, positive mindset, and exceptional work ethic. Completion of systems training requirements. Experience with exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue; ready to assist in emergency care. Willingness to travel to other sites as needed.
