Job Description

Characteristics of the work include performing nursing work under general supervision, providing nursing care and accurate health information to clients in a primary care center. Assesses patient and family health care needs, counsels patients and families, and participates in developing and implementing care plans. Instructs patients and families in health education and disease prevention.

Examples of Duties

Examples of the work include assessing patient complaints via telephone and in person, performing nursing assessments, developing health care plans, counseling patients regarding health status, providing individual and group health education, administering medications, injections, immunizations, venipuncture and treatments, documenting patient history, assisting providers with exams and procedures, ensuring a clean, well stocked and safe work area, and adhering to standard precautions.

Minimum Requirements

Graduation from a two year nursing school approved by the National League of Nursing. Possession of a current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Kentucky. Special requirements include obtaining CPR certification, providing own transportation, wearing protective equipment, being vaccinated for Hepatitis B, and working varied work schedule.
