Patient Registrar / Patient Registration Representative I

Location: Los Angeles, CA (90017) Duration: 16 Weeks Contract Shift: Day Shift (8:30 AM 5:00 PM), weekends required

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Patient Registration Representative to support front-end patient access functions including registration, pre-registration, insurance verification, and patient financial responsibility collection. This role ensures a smooth and efficient intake process while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and hospital policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform patient registration and pre-registration for outpatient and inpatient services
• Verify insurance eligibility, benefit, and obtain authorizations
• Collect copays, coinsurance, and deductibles
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality
• Provide customer service to patients, families, and providers
• Handle high-volume registrations (2030+ per shift)
• Coordinate with internal teams and eligibility vendors

Required Skills & Experience

• 1+ year experience in medical office, hospital, or healthcare setting
• Strong knowledge of insurance verification and medical billing
• Familiarity with medical terminology
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Typing speed of 45+ WPM
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and navigating multiple systems
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Knowledge of HIPAA compliance

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent required
• Additional healthcare education preferred

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual (Spanish or Mandarin)
