Breastfeeding Peer Counselor

CHC is looking for a compassionate and motivated Breastfeeding Peer Counselor to support pregnant and breastfeeding mothers enrolled in the WIC program. In this role, you will provide education, encouragement, and guidance to help families successfully meet their breastfeeding goals while making a meaningful impact in the community.

Salary: $16-$21/hour

In this key role, you will:

• Breastfeeding Support Advocate – Provide education, encouragement, and emotional support to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers
• Community Connector – Refer families to WIC staff, lactation experts, healthcare providers, and community resources as needed
• Trusted Resource – Help mothers overcome common breastfeeding concerns and build confidence in infant feeding
• Patient Educator – Share information on breastfeeding benefits, techniques, and healthy infant nutrition practices
• Relationship Builder – Maintain supportive, respectful, and confidential relationships with WIC participants and families
• Outreach Support – Assist with prenatal classes, breastfeeding support groups, and community education activities

What We're Looking For:

• Passion for supporting mothers, infants, and families in the community
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to build trust and provide compassionate support to diverse populations
• Associates degree or equivalent experience preferred
• One or more years of customer service, education, training, or related experience preferred
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed
• Reliable transportation for local travel between clinics, including Clinton, Muscatine, and Tipton
