Location: Kent, WA

Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm

Pay: $25.00–$32.00/hr. DOE 

Now Hiring: Senior Payroll Specialist in Kent, Washington

Simply Great Staffing is a locally owned, family-operated staffing company partnering with a well-established manufacturing and distribution employer in Kent, WA to fill a Senior Payroll Specialist position. What You'll Do

• Perform end-to-end processing of multi-state biweekly payroll for hourly employees
• Ensure accurate calculation and withholding of federal, state, and local taxes, plus voluntary and involuntary deductions (medical benefits, 401(k), court-ordered garnishments)
• Manage, update, and troubleshoot employee data in the payroll system — rate changes, new hire setups, terminations, and department transfers
• Conduct pre- and post-payroll audits to verify hours, rate changes, and retro-pay calculations
• Serve as the primary contact for payroll inquiries, resolving discrepancies and explaining deductions and tax matters professionally
• Generate payroll, labor distribution, attendance, and related reports for Management, Accounting, and Human Resources
• Provide backup support for salaried and Canadian payroll processing
• Handle other duties and special projects as assigned by the Payroll Manager

What You Bring

• Five or more years of payroll processing experience preferred
• Excellent data entry, 10-key, and math skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other business software
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, wage and hour regulations, and payroll tax practices
• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality
• Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to prioritize and meet deadlines independently
• Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse workforce

Nice to Have

• Experience with an automated time collection system
• Multi-union and multi-state payroll experience for organizations with 250+ employees
• Dayforce and DOS system experience
• Familiarity with garnishment administration and payroll reporting requirements
