(International Brotherhood of Teamsters) Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-Time Category: Campus/Auxiliary/Transportation, Facilities, Public Safety Position Summary SHIFT: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair combined heat and power and chilled water systems and connected equipment to perform safely and efficiently; perform preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance duties and routines. Perform routine and emergency maintenance on high temperature hot water, chilled water and electrical distribution piping, valves and controls throughout the NYU portfolio of properties. Perform housekeeping, painting, labeling etc on plant equipment and systems. Complete assigned tasks safely and efficiently utilizing good work practice as part of a maintenance team or working independently with minimal supervision. Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnosis on plant equipment, systems and controls. Correct and repair advanced mechanical, electrical and instrumentation faults on plant equipment. Understand how to troubleshoot equipment faults/failures and identify root causes of plant issues. Recommend a repair/recovery strategy to return plant to normal operating condition. Must be able to communicate effectively on e‑mail, radio and via phone. Repair and maintain machinery, mechanical and electrical equipment in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operating manuals, manufacturers' specifications or supervisor instructions, using hand and power tools, precision measuring or testing devices. Observe, calibrate, troubleshoot and adjust a wide variety of control valves, transmitters, PLC’s and various instrumentation and control devices to assure proper operation and repair. Assist in the scoping, planning and schedule of shutdowns and repairs. Order supplies and replacement parts used in the plant as required and directed. Respond to emergencies and determine corrective actions using available resources. Qualifications Required Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Education: Trade school or other post‑elementary education. Required Experience: Ten years of relevant experience. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of combined heat and power and chilled water systems, equipment and instrumentation and controls proper operating conditions and parameters. Knowledge of maintenance routines, codes, standards, plant procedures, fire and life safety procedures and codes. Knowledge of University and department policies, processes, and quality standards. Soldering, minor welding, wire pulling, brazing, pipe threading and conduit installation skills. Specific Operation & Maintenance experience with mechanical equipment & systems (hydraulic, pneumatic, instrumentation, filters, lubrication processes, etc.). Thorough knowledge of the safe operation of hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment. Ability to climb ladders up to 24', work safely on a “cherry picker”, work in confined spaces or under extreme environmental conditions. Good written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, working knowledge/familiarity with computer applications such as e‑mail. Positive attitude, willingness to collaborate and team with others to accomplish work efficiently and to high quality standards. Additional Information In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rate for this position is USD $57.268. This rate is based on bargaining unit contracts. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
