Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology Per Diem

Position Summary The Nurse Practitioner in the Cardiology Department provides quality service by performing a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for the admission of patients scheduled for cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology studies, stress tests, echocardiograms, and chest pain observation. The Nurse Practitioner works in conjunction with the Cardiologist to provide consultation to in‑patients and employs processes of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow‑up, and outcome evaluation. The nurse practitioner is an independent health‑care provider who collaborates closely with the Medical Director of Cardiology and the department physicians. Responsibilities Deliver quality care in preparing cardiology patients for invasive cardiac procedures (cardiac cath/EP), echo, and stress testing, evaluating and treating cardiac patients, obtaining consents, and following patients post‑cardiac catheterization as well as admitting and discharging patients from the cardiology service. Assist in growing the Cardiology line of services at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. Required Experience and Qualifications Master’s in Nursing Degree and completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program. New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse and Nurse Practitioner. Nurse Practitioner National Board Certification in specialty area. Completion of a pharmacology component of at least three (3) semester hours or equivalent, and instruction in NYS laws relating to prescription and record‑keeping. Previous experience relevant to cardiology and prescriptive privileges in NYS. Current BLS/ACLS/PALS provider certification from the American Heart Association. Travel and Other Considerations As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, travel to other locations may occasionally be required to support operational needs. This position may require wearing respiratory protection, which may prohibit facial hair. Salary and Compensation Starting hourly rate: $94.60. The salary range is based on relevant experience. Pre‑Employment Requirements Successfully complete a pre‑employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Employee Health Services. Complete an electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references. Successfully complete a 4‑panel drug screen. Meet regulatory requirements for pre‑employment screenings. Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).
