Human Resources Director

Description
Strategic HR Leadership
- Partner with executive leadership to align HR initiatives with company objectives and long-term growth strategies
- Provide guidance and coaching to managers on organizational development, employee engagement, performance management, and workforce planning
- Help drive and strengthen ClearFreight’s culture across all offices and departments
- Lead the implementation and ongoing management of employee performance review processes
Employee Relations & Culture
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and solutions-oriented work environment
- Manage employee relations matters, conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement processes
- Support managers and employees through complex workplace situations with professionalism and discretion
- Promote employee engagement initiatives that support retention and company culture
Talent Acquisition & Development
- Oversee recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding processes across multiple departments and locations
- Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and improve recruitment strategies
- Help develop training, mentorship, and professional development initiatives
- Ensure a strong and consistent onboarding experience for new hires
Compensation & Benefits
- Oversee employee benefits administration, including health plans, leave programs, and 401(k) participation
- Oversee compensation planning and market benchmarking to maintain competitive pay structures
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of HR and payroll-related processes and data
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Maintain and update employee handbooks, policies, procedures, and HR documentation
- Oversee workers’ compensation, leave administration, and other risk-management related functions
- Maintain confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive employee information
HR Operations & Technology
- Manage and optimize HRIS and payroll systems to improve efficiency and reporting capabilities
- Develop HR metrics and reporting to support business decisions and workforce planning
- Continuously identify opportunities to improve HR processes and employee experience
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred
- 7+ years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of California employment law and HR best practices
- Experience supporting multi-location organizations preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, and leadership skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with HRIS, payroll, and talent management systems
- Logistics, transportation, supply chain, or freight forwarding industry experience is a plus
