Mass Eye & Ear (MEE) is looking for Per Diem Surgical Technologists at Longwood Satellite Location. A Surgical Technologist is responsible for providing intraoperative care to surgical patients. Available Shifts/Locations: We are currently hiring for our Longwood satellite campus (800 Huntington Ave) – Per Diem Role. Responsibilities include assisting surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in various surgical procedures and playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the operating room. Tasks include preparing the operating room for surgical procedures, setting up sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment required for the surgery, transporting patients to the operating room, helping with positioning on the surgical table, and ensuring their safety and comfort during the procedure. Passing instruments, supplies, and equipment to the surgical team during procedures, following proper sterilization techniques to ensure the cleanliness and sterility of surgical instruments and supplies, maintaining accurate and complete documentation of surgical procedures, collaborating effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other members of the surgical team, assisting in preparing the surgical site by applying sterile drapes and solutions, and securing and managing surgical drains and catheters as directed by the surgeon.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

Licenses and Credentials: Certified Surgical Technologist [CST] - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) - preferred.

Work Experience: Experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting – 2-3 years - required. Four (4) years experience as a surgical technologist in an acute care setting; committee and leadership experience – 3-5 years - preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of SPD Sterile Room, ability to multitask, can work in a fast-paced clinical environment, advanced knowledge of sterile processing procedures and policies, familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items is required.
