Senior Billing Specialist

Our client is a professional services firm. They seek a Senior Billing Specialist to join their Manhattan, NY office.

Responsibilities

• Manage the end-to-end billing process, including invoice preparation, review, submission, and follow-up to ensure timely and accurate client billing
• Review billing data, time entries, expenses, and client agreements to ensure compliance with billing requirements and contractual terms
• Prepare complex invoices, billing reports, and analyses while resolving discrepancies and client billing issues
• Partner with attorneys, project teams, finance, and clients to address billing inquiries and improve collection processes
• Monitor accounts receivable balances, aging reports, and outstanding invoices while supporting collection efforts
• Maintain billing records, client documentation, and reporting schedules to support month-end close and financial reporting
• Identify process improvements, enhance billing workflows, and support automation initiatives to increase efficiency
• Assist with audits, financial reporting requests, and special projects related to revenue operations and billing functions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
• 5+ years of billing, accounts receivable, or revenue operations experience, preferably within a professional services, legal, consulting, or financial services environment
• Strong understanding of billing processes, client invoicing, revenue recognition, and accounts receivable practices
• Experience managing complex billing arrangements, including hourly, fixed-fee, milestone, or contract-based billing structures
• Proficiency with billing and accounting systems such as Elite, Aderant, Intapp, NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms
• Advanced Excel skills with experience analyzing billing data, reconciliations, and reporting metrics
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage high-volume billing activity and competing deadlines
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to collaborate with internal teams and external clients
