Sales Executive

Sales Executive

The Sales Executive is responsible for generating revenue for Indianapolis Motor Speedway by selling, renewing, and creating premium experiences and hospitality opportunities surrounding the Month of May, Brickyard 400, and other premier events held at IMS.

Responsibilities include:

  • Generating revenue for IMS by selling premium assets for racing events held at IMS which include, but are not limited to: suites, hospitality, midway activations, club tickets & packages, car corrals, garage space, official partnerships.
  • Generating revenue for IMS by selling venue space for special events and private gatherings.
  • Continually evaluating current and potential inventory to develop new revenue streams. Working with team and leadership to maximize revenue opportunities and enterprise profitability.
  • Cultivating and maintaining new and existing relationships and negotiating renewals.
  • Being responsible for administrative responsibilities including contract generation, client record keeping in CRM, expense report compilation, etc.
  • Assisting client services team with customer-related issues.
  • Identifying and resolving client concerns by researching issues and working with IMS internal teams.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with all internal IMS teams, focusing especially on client services, partnerships, legal and credentials.
  • Preparing timely, creative, relevant, and accurate presentations, activity reports, and special projects as assigned.
  • Conducting continuous, creative prospecting for new, local, regional, and national customers. Identifying sales prospects and proactively contacting these and other accounts assigned.
  • Attending IMS races and special events, as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required experience and skills include:

  • Three years' sales experience, or relevant experience in the sports/hospitality industry.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.

Leadership:

  • This role does not have direct supervisory responsibilities.

Flexibility & Travel:

  • Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
  • Candidate must be able to work overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Extended hours required during race weekends and key event periods (especially May).
  • Our teams work together to create flexibility that supports life in and out of work.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to see and hear in the normal range with or without correction and communicate verbally and in written form with great facility and must be able to be understood.
  • Must have the stamina to work long hours and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends or evenings.
  • Occasional work outdoors requires physical strength and stamina to endure extreme heat, cold, rain, and other conditions.

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in both an office environment and outdoors, and in close proximity to other workers.
  • Employees will be exposed to those conditions normally encountered in a business office environment.
  • Employees are faced with frequent interruptions and must meet with others on a regular basis.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be loud, due to professional racing events.
