Director of Continuing Education and Workforce Development Programs

About the Opportunity Northeastern University is a global research university dedicated to experiential learning. This role focuses on advancing professional education and workforce development for Miami and the Southeast corridor within Bouvé College of Health Sciences. Job Summary Reporting to the Associate Dean for Network Growth, the Director of Continuing Education and Workforce Development will provide strategic vision and administrative oversight of professional programs in continuing education (CE), continuing medical education (CME), and workforce development. The director will create, expand, manage, and implement a diverse portfolio of professional education programs, products, and services that enhance lifelong learning offerings. Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities Strategic Planning & Program Development (20%) – Develop and execute annual strategic plans aligned with the college mission and workforce trends; design, develop, and manage courses, certifications, and workshops; launch a minimum of 20 new programs annually; implement long‑term plans for growth, innovation, and continuous improvement. Accreditation, Compliance & Quality Assurance (20%) – Maintain accreditation for all programs, ensuring 100% compliance with ACCME and other accrediting bodies; ensure programs meet state licensing and accreditation requirements; conduct evaluations to maintain quality and achieve ≥90% participant satisfaction. Partnership Development & Business Growth (15%) – Establish and maintain partnerships with health organizations, professional associations, industry partners, and community organizations annually; generate business contracts achieving annual revenue goals; coordinate stakeholder communication across healthcare, education, and community sectors. Program Operations & Supervision (25%) – Direct day‑to‑day operations, ensuring policies and procedures are followed; oversee scheduling, enrollment, and delivery to meet enrollment targets and quality standards; analyze enrollment and performance data quarterly to inform resource allocation; manage technology systems for participant tracking. Financial Management & Grant Administration (10%) – Achieve annual revenue targets within a self‑supporting model; manage the annual operating budget and program expenditures; oversee grant proposals and secure external funding; maintain accurate financial tracking and reporting. Marketing, Outreach & Leadership Development (10%) – Lead marketing initiatives to promote programs; supervise and develop direct reports, providing performance reviews and coaching; recruit, train, and retain qualified instructors and staff; lead interdisciplinary committees to foster collaborative program development. Qualifications Education & Experience – Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, education, business administration, or related field; master’s degree preferred. Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in continuing education, professional development, or workforce development within healthcare or higher education settings. Background in an academic medical center or health sciences college environment. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; self‑motivated and able to work in a matrixed environment. Technical Knowledge & Skills Demonstrated expertise in joint accreditation processes and interprofessional continuing education standards. Professional certification in continuing education (e.g., CCMEP) preferred. Knowledge of multiple health professions’ scope of practice and educational requirements. Strong understanding of healthcare delivery systems, professional licensing requirements, and competency frameworks. Experience with learning management systems, continuing education tracking platforms, and CRM systems. Leadership & Management Proven track record of successful program development and revenue generation in a self‑supporting business model. Experience leading interdisciplinary teams and managing complex, multi‑stakeholder initiatives. Budget management experience and financial acumen. Skill in innovation in continuing education delivery and business model development. Demonstrated success in sales and/or relationship management. Effective communicator and collaborator, capable of motivating others toward shared goals. Ability to track activity, report results, and collaborate with faculty and staff across programs and administrative units. Diplomatic, with the capacity to develop long‑term internal and external collaborations. Flexibility for regional travel. Compensation range: $79,005.00 – $111,596.25 (grade 111S), dependent on education, experience, and market factors.
