Must-Have: ASN Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients through the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Essential Functions include performing all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided assures the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. The RN completes initial assessments upon patient admission and develops appropriate plans of care in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifying the plan of care is based on continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Effective communication with others directly and in private when necessary to resolve issues is essential. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and consults with colleagues to expand their knowledge base. Identifying own learning needs and taking initiative to begin appropriate solutions is important. The RN fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Department Specific Job Functions include providing direct care of CVICU patients. Maintaining a clean and tidy work environment is expected. The RN maintains hospital and unit-based competencies. Hourly rounding on patients is required. Seeking out opportunities to assist internal and external customers proactively is encouraged.
