Black Hills State University invites applications for University Registrar. The Registrar leads the office responsible for student academic records, registration, transfer credit evaluation, academic catalogs, degree awarding, enrollment verification, and transcript services. This position protects the accuracy and confidentiality of student records while helping students, faculty, and staff navigate academic policies and processes.

The University Registrar supervises office personnel; oversees registration, degree audits, and graduation processes; and works with Academic Affairs and campus partners to implement approved curriculum and improve student information systems. The Registrar also advises university leaders on academic records practices and ensures office operations comply with university, South Dakota Board of Regents, state, and federal requirements, including FERPA.

Essential duties and responsibilities include establishing office priorities, supervising and evaluating staff, developing the office budget, serving on University and Regental committees, directing the creation and security of student academic records, overseeing grades and official record services, interpreting and implementing applicable requirements, maintaining controls and audit practices, overseeing registration processes, helping develop the academic calendar, resolving escalated registration issues, coordinating implementation of approved programs, overseeing production and maintenance of the academic catalog, directing the recording and evaluation of transfer credit, maintaining reliable degree audit rules, directing graduation application processes, and providing leadership to produce bi-annual Commencement exercises.

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, progressively responsible experience in a college or university registrar's office or closely related academic administration, and demonstrated knowledge of academic records, registration, curriculum and degree requirements, and student information systems.
