Job Description Pay Rate Range: $35 - $85 per hour Teledyne FLIR is looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Technician / Machinist to join our engineering team to work in the Surveillance Systems Division in Orlando FL. This role combines hands-on machining expertise with precision mechanical assembly, supporting the development and fabrication of complex mechanical and opto-mechanical systems. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Operate and program CNC machines, including CNC mills and lathes, using CAM software integrated with SolidWorks. Perform precision machining of components to tight tolerances using both manual and CNC equipment. Assemble precision mechanical systems, including alignment and integration of opto-mechanical assemblies. Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical documentation to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly. Collaborate with engineers and designers to optimize manufacturability and assembly processes. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to safety and quality standards. Job Qualifications: Proven experience with CAM programming, preferably using SolidWorks CAM or similar platforms. Proficiency in operating CNC lathes and other machine tools. Strong background in precision mechanical assembly, including use of hand tools, torque drivers, and alignment fixtures. Familiarity with opto-mechanical systems and cleanroom assembly practices is highly desirable. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Experience in a prototype or R&D environment. Knowledge of optical alignment techniques and handling of sensitive optical components. Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems. Associate degree or technical certification in Machining, Mechanical Technology, or a related field. Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
