Job Title Executive Underwriter - UW07DD; Senior Executive Underwriter - UW07DC; Senior Underwriter - UW08DA; Underwriter - UW08DB Overview As a Contract Surety Underwriter at The Hartford, your primary role will be to support all Contract Surety lines of business strategies by marketing and underwriting business in partnership with field office specialists. Updated Position may be filled at Senior Executive Underwriter, Executive Underwriter, Senior Underwriter, or Underwriter title levels – commensurate with experience level. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting or economics strongly preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. AFSB designation preferred. 3+ years of contract surety underwriting experience. Demonstrated success in developing and maintaining solid relationships with all internal and external business partners. Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills. Ability to think analytically about business problems, make recommendations and propose solutions. High‑energy self‑starter, resilient and entrepreneurial spirit. Demonstration of solid time, organizational, and desk management skills. Goal‑oriented and delivers outcomes. Ability to challenge the status quo and compete to win. Superior technical knowledge and sound decision‑making and analytical skills. Valid driver’s license; a company car may be provided. Location This role will have a hybrid work arrangement with the expectation of working in the Hunt Valley, MD or Alexandria, VA office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Compensation The listed annualized base pay range is $71,600 – $205,200. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role.
