• Mon-Fri 11pm-7:30am (Medical Lab Technician - Chemistry)

Job Summary

The Medical Laboratory Technologist/Technician is responsible for the day-to-day processing, analysis, and reporting of specimens within the Chemistry Laboratory. This role performs a full range of laboratory procedures, ensures accuracy and efficiency in testing, and supports laboratory operations. The individual works independently within scope and consults senior laboratory staff (e.g., Medical Technologist III or Lab Lead) as needed.

Essential Functions

• Receive, process, and analyze specimens according to established departmental protocols
• Produce, interpret, and report accurate and precise test results in a timely manner
• Perform all routine and complex laboratory procedures with demonstrated clinical competency
• Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues that may impact test performance or result accuracy
• Perform instrument maintenance, calibration, and method troubleshooting
• Design, implement, and update laboratory procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy
• Adhere to all laboratory safety standards and follow procedures outlined in manuals
• Meet productivity expectations as defined by departmental guidelines
• Assist leadership (Supervisor, Manager, Director) with administrative tasks, including inventory management and supply ordering
• Support development, implementation, and delivery of staff training programs; may serve as a project leader
• Assist with daily lab operations and contribute to the development of laboratory services
• Maintain and support Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) programs
• Communicate relevant laboratory issues and updates to appropriate leadership
• Collaborate with other departments and affiliated organizations
• Ensure compliance with all corporate policies, including privacy, security, and regulatory standards

Education & Licensure

• Technician Level: Associate's degree in chemical, physical, or biological science or medical technology
• Technologist Level: Bachelor's degree in chemical, physical biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology
• Valid ASCP or AMT certification required
• Ongoing continuing education required to maintain certification and licensure

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant laboratory experience preferred (Medical Lab Technician, Medical Technologist, or Medical Lab Scientist)
• Strong technical and analytical skills in a clinical laboratory setting
• Computer proficiency required
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
