Demonstrate content expertise and familiarity with AP or dual‑credit standards where applicable. Create and maintain a positive virtual classroom environment that fosters participation and growth. Provide timely, specific, and constructive feedback on student work. Maintain accurate records of performance, engagement, and progress toward goals. Develop and deliver live and asynchronous instruction and integrate virtual tools. Support Canvas navigation and general technical assistance for students. Student Monitoring & Communication Communicate regularly with students and guardians about progress, expectations, and support. Identify students requiring additional support using MTSS protocols. Collaborate with MTSS teams and administrators to implement interventions. Document all communication and support in accordance with program requirements. Implement individualized accommodations for students receiving 504, SPED, ESL, or Gifted/Talented services. Participate in ARD and 504 meetings to develop and implement support plans. Tutoring & Exam Support Design and facilitate study sessions, exam development, and academic interventions. Provide tutoring in synchronous and asynchronous formats. Support student readiness for STAAR and AP exams. Proctor assessments in compliance with district and testing agency policies. Assist students with exam procedures and preparation tools. Professional Responsibilities Maintain active Texas teacher certification and uphold the Texas Educator Code of Ethics. Participate in required professional development, district initiatives, and school events. Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other learning opportunities. Participate in evening or weekend professional sessions or regional travel as needed. Support engagement efforts, including extracurriculars and special events. Collaborate regularly with the Learning Specialist team for instructional alignment. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree. Texas Teacher Certification in Science 7‑12. Minimum two years of teaching secondary science in Texas public schools. Experience designing instruction and assessments for high‑school science courses. Comprehensive understanding of TEKS, STAAR, and best practices in lesson design, tutoring, and assessment. Experience supporting diverse student groups (at‑risk, bilingual, gifted, special education, 504). Experience with online instruction and advanced technology skills for delivery. Strong organizational, communication, and multi‑tasking abilities. Professional demeanor and adherence to Texas educator standards. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in education, science, or a closely related field. More than two years of teaching experience and experience teaching multiple high‑school science courses. Experience in an educational leadership role (e.g., PC‑Lead, Department Chair). Experience developing and delivering professional development for educators. In-depth knowledge of TEKS, Texas Education Code, FERPA, and graduation requirements. Extensive knowledge of assessment proctoring and scoring best practices. Experience teaching in Canvas LMS or similar online environments. Multiple subject area certification. Experience in blended learning and leading training sessions for teachers. Salary Range $67,200 + depending on qualifications Working Conditions Hybrid role: Two assigned onsite days per week on campus in Austin, TX. Work performed virtually; requires reliable internet connection and digital communication proficiency. May require occasional evening meetings to accommodate family schedules. Occasional travel for compliance, professional development, or training at the UT High School Austin office.
