SAFETY & COMPLIANCE MANAGER

Safety & Compliance Manager Multi-Site Leadership RoleOwen Industries is a decades-long leader in the steel industry - and we're looking for a Safety and Compliance Manager who is ready to own our safety programs across multiple manufacturing sites. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role reporting directly to the HR Director, with responsibility for developing, implementing, and driving safety and regulatory compliance across our entire organization.Location: Carter Lake, IA (Near Downtown Omaha) - primary baseTravel: Occasional travel to facilities in Sioux City, IA Fargo, ND Wahoo, NESchedule: Monday-Friday, standard business hours with flexibility as neededReports to: HR DirectorProgram Development & ImplementationDevelop, implement, and continuously monitor comprehensive safety and compliance programs across all Owen Industries manufacturing sitesMaintain and update safety documentation, policies, and procedures to align with current regulations and industry best practicesRegulatory ComplianceEnsure adherence to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulationsServe as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, external audits, and compliance reviewsRisk Assessment & Incident ManagementConduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptlyLead investigations of accidents and near-miss incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive corrective and preventive action to closureTraining & CultureDesign and deliver safety training programs for employees, supervisors, and leadership at all levelsChampion a proactive safety culture through effective communication, recognition programs, and meaningful employee involvement initiativesPerformance Monitoring & ReportingTrack, analyze, and report safety performance metrics to senior leadershipRecommend and implement data-driven improvement strategies based on trends and outcomesCollaboration & LeadershipPartner with plant and local leadership to integrate safety practices into daily operations and continuous improvement processesLead and participate in cross-functional safety committees and company-wide initiativesEmergency PreparednessOversee emergency response planning and coordinate regular drills across all locationsWhat We're Looking For3 - 5 years of safety and compliance experience in a manufacturing environment - multi-site experience strongly preferredBachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience consideredDeep working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable safety regulationsProfessional certifications (CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent) strongly preferredProven track record of building and sustaining safety programs that produce measurable resultsStrong leadership presence - you can influence plant floor employees and senior leadership alikeExcellent communication and organizational skills - written, verbal, and in front of a groupComfortable with occasional travel to multi-state facilitiesData-driven mindset with demonstrated success executing strategic safety initiativesA self-starter who takes ownership, stands behind decisions, and doesn't wait to be told what needs to be fixedWhat's In It For YouHigh-visibility role with direct access to HR Director and senior leadershipBroad organizational scope - influence across multiple divisions and sitesHealth, Dental & Vision insuranceLife/AD&D and Short & Long-Term Disability coverage401(k) with company matchPTO and paid holidays - accrual begins immediatelyWellness program with premium incentivesSupport for professional certifications and continuing educationOpportunities for career growth within Owen IndustriesBenefits begin the 1st of the month after 30 days of employment.Owen Industries is a multi-division steel manufacturing organization with facilities spanning Iowa, Nebraska, and North Dakota.
