Registered Nurse Psychiatric

Psychiatric Nursing Position

Provide comprehensive psychiatric nursing care to patients in a mental health setting. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct holistic initial nursing assessments on admission and discharge to inform care planning.
• Evaluate, plan, educate, and implement nursing interventions tailored to psychiatric patients.
• Document all screening and assessment results in the EMR, including tools like BROSET, CSSRS, ELOPEMENT, CIWA, CINA, AUDIT C, and PSP.
• Administer medications safely and accurately according to prescribed orders.
• Participate in and document in the Comprehensive Treatment Plan, supporting diagnostic procedures such as EKG, phlebotomy, vital signs, and IV insertion.
• Lead patient education and facilitate therapy groups, family conferences, and staff activities related to psychiatric care.

Qualifications:

• Valid New York State RN license with primary source verification.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing.
• Current BLS certification from AHA.
• Strong knowledge of psychiatric assessment tools and safety protocols.
• Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and patients.
