Position Summary & Purpose The Workplace Violence Prevention & Behavior Management Coordinator is responsible for delivering and maintaining a comprehensive de escalation, safe physical management, and crisis intervention training program across Peace Hospital and UofL Health. This role supports the organization's commitment to patient, staff, and visitor safety by providing standardized training, coordinating response to behavioral crises, and reinforcing trauma informed care principles. This position ensures staff are equipped to prevent, respond to, and recover from behavioral emergencies while supporting systemwide performance improvement and regulatory compliance.
Essential Functions Training & Program Delivery Instruct standardized De Escalation, Safe Physical Management (SCM), and Workplace Violence Prevention courses to meet Joint Commission requirements. Deliver SCM training using trauma sensitive, relationship based approaches. Coordinate training schedules, classroom logistics, and instructor coverage for all required programs. Ensure accurate documentation of all trainings, exams, attendance, and certifications in internal systems and SCM platforms.
Crisis Response & Behavioral Support Respond to behavioral crises using approved techniques to ensure safety and minimize harm. Conduct risk assessments and develop individualized safety plans to support behavioral performance improvement. Debrief critical incidents of workplace violence and participate in follow up corrective actions. Support clinical teams during high risk or escalating situations, modeling de escalation approaches.
Program Development, Compliance & Quality Improvement Maintain current knowledge of workplace violence standards, de escalation strategies, emerging best practices, and SCM/CPI program changes. Assist in developing new training materials and improving existing curriculum. Collaborate with the Workplace Violence Prevention Manager and multidisciplinary teams to ensure consistent practice across the hospital. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to violence prevention and behavioral safety.
Administrative & Other Duties Maintain compliance with HIPAA and all organizational policies and standards of conduct. Participate in required background checks, licensure verification, and drug screening per organizational policy. Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure and Certification) Bachelor's degree in business, Public Health, Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Education, or related field OR 5 years of verifiable relevant experience. Minimum 1 year of experience in healthcare, security, social services, or training/education. Preferred: 2–3 years working in healthcare, social services, or security with aggressive-behavior management. 2+ years teaching de escalation or safe physical management training. 1+ year program development or project management experience. SCM or CPI certification (or willingness to obtain). Licensure & Requirements Valid driver's license. Must pass required background check and drug screening.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities critical to this role: Working knowledge of Joint Commission standards and healthcare regulatory requirements. Strong communication, conflict resolution, and crisis intervention skills. Ability to think critically, teach effectively, and speak confidently to large groups. Proficient in Microsoft Office and basic AV equipment. Familiarity with reporting and education systems such as RL Solutions and HealthStream. Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements Physical Demands Frequent standing, bending, walking, lifting up to 50+ lbs, and demonstrating physical management skills. Frequent repetitive motions, hearing, vision, and dexterity use. Work Environment Exposure to loud noises, behavioral emergencies, and potentially combative individuals. Occasional exposure to temperature extremes, bloodborne pathogens, and hazardous environments. Local travel required, no routine national travel.
