Project Manager

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Electrical Project Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, financially performing, scheduling, and successfully executing assigned electrical construction projects. The Project Manager will work closely with owners, general contractors, construction managers, engineers, architects, vendors, subcontractors, superintendents, foremen, estimators, and DKD leadership to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, financially aware, and able to manage multiple projects while maintaining strong communication with customers and field personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management: Manage electrical construction projects from contract award through final closeout. Review contracts, drawings, specifications, scopes of work, schedules, and project requirements. Establish project budgets, schedules, manpower requirements, and procurement plans. Monitor project progress and proactively address issues that may affect cost, schedule, or quality. Coordinate with General Contractors, Construction Managers, owners, engineers, and other project stakeholders. Maintain clear and timely communication with field supervision and project teams. Conduct and/or participate in project meetings, and document key decisions and action items. Financial & Cost Management: Maintain responsibility for the financial performance of assigned projects. Monitor labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs. Review job cost reports and identify potential budget issues before they become significant problems. Track committed costs and projected costs to complete. Prepare and maintain accurate project forecasts. Review project profitability and take appropriate corrective action when necessary. Work with accounting and management to resolve billing, invoicing, and collection issues. Review and approve project-related purchases and commitments within company guidelines. Change Orders & Contract Administration: Identify potential change-order opportunities and promptly notify the appropriate parties. Prepare, price, document, and track change orders. Ensure change-order work is properly authorized before proceeding whenever possible. Maintain documentation supporting changes in scope, schedule, labor, and material. Review RFIs, submittals, correspondence, and other contract documents for potential cost or schedule impacts. Assist in resolving contractual and scope-related issues. Scheduling & Procurement: Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with field supervision and other project stakeholders. Identify long-lead materials and coordinate procurement to support the project schedule. Work closely with Purchasing, vendors, subcontractors, and the field team to ensure materials are available when needed. Monitor material deliveries and identify potential delays. Coordinate manpower and project needs with Superintendents and Foremen. Track project milestones and communicate schedule concerns to management. Field Coordination: Maintain regular communication with Electrical Superintendents, General Superintendents, Foremen, and field personnel. Support field supervision in resolving project-related issues. Ensure the field team has current drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and other necessary project information. Visit project sites regularly to monitor progress, coordination, quality, and customer satisfaction. Help resolve field conflicts and coordination issues. Support a safe and productive work environment. Documentation & Closeout: Maintain organized and accurate project documentation throughout the project. Track RFIs, submittals, change orders, material procurement, schedules, and project correspondence. Ensure required documentation is completed and submitted on time. Coordinate project punch-list completion. Ensure projects close out within required timelines. Coordinate as-builts, O&M manuals, warranties, final documentation, and other closeout requirements. Assist with final billing and collection of outstanding project balances.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

The Electrical Project Manager will be expected to: Maintain strong project profitability and cost control. Keep labor and material costs aligned with the approved project budget. Maintain accurate cost-to-complete projections. Address project issues promptly rather than allowing problems to escalated. Submit RFIs and follow up in a timely manner. Review and submit submittals according to project requirements. Identify and communicate long-lead material requirements early. Submit and track change orders promptly. Maintain accurate project schedules. Maintain strong communication with field personnel and customers. Support timely accounts receivable and project billing. Maintain project documentation and closeout requirements. Promote DKD's commitment to safety, quality, professionalism, and customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: 3+ years of experience managing commercial or industrial electrical construction projects. Strong understanding of commercial electrical construction practices. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and contract documents. Strong understanding of project budgets, job costing, labor, material, and subcontractor costs. Experience managing change orders, RFIs, submittals, procurement, scheduling, and project closeout. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook. Ability to work effectively with field personnel, customers, contractors, vendors, and internal staff. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to travel to project sites as required. Preferred: Electrical Journeyman or Master Electrician license. Degree or formal education in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Business, or a related field. Experience with construction management software. Experience with project scheduling and job-cost management systems. Experience managing commercial, industrial, healthcare, warehouse, distribution, or large-scale electrical projects. Experience with prevailing-wage projects.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires a combination of office and construction-site work. Regular visits to active construction sites are expected.
